2014 First Place Cocoa Couture Design

The Museum of Science and Industry - Tampa, Florida

In 2014, I constructed a jumpsuit out of chocolate candy wrappers for The Festival of Chocolate's 3rd Annual Cocoa Couture Fashion Show.  My creation was composed of roughly 400 green Ghirardelli Chocolate candy wrappers for the main portion of the garment and 48 gold Lindor white chocolate wrappers for the collar and pockets. Based on wearability, execution and construction, fit, use of chocolate wrappers and overall attractiveness, a panel of three judges deemed my design the winner out of sixteen other students and area fashion professionals.

I derived my inspiration for this piece by taking a trending silhouette and designing my own twist that would look fresh and unique and compliment the female figure.  When designing, I always ask myself: "what would a woman like to wear that is fashionable, but also explains her need for individuality?"

For the 2015 Festival of Chocolate, I had the honor of being invited back as a guest judge for the Cocoa Couture Fashion Show.  As the returning winner, I was able to showcase my design yet again and help choose the 2015 Judge's Choice Best Design.  This garment is now on display at Chocolate Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.
